The Rivers State government has ordered all markets in the state to shutdown. This is a movement to stop the spread of the deadly corona virus. The state has already recorded her first positive case.
The Governor in a live broadcast instructed that all markets no matter how small should close down. He also charged the local government chairmen to follow through to enforce this directive in their respective areas. The Governor also reminded the residents of the state that the directive was for their good. The directive will commences tomorrow 28 March 2020. Many residents were seen buying things on a large scale to prepare for the shutdown in many markets and superstores.
People have lamented the closure of the markets in the state, on the grounds that there is no money to buy food stuffs. they are asking how they will survive in this trying time. This directive is coming at a time when people are scared of what to do next. Some persons have been heading to the market to stock their pantry with foodstuffs.
