Rivers State Government Ends the Curfew it imposed on some parts of the state.The Affected areas where mostly found along the ever busy Ikwerre road, beginning from Education bust stop and running all the way to Choba.
The Rivers State Governor Barrister Nyesom Wike made this known in a live broadcast on thursday 3rd April 2020.The curfew was imposed due to failure to comply to the government directive on the closure of markets in the state as a measure to help curb the spread of the deadly Corona Virus in the state. He stated that after a meeting with the state executive council, he found it necessary to lift the curfew to enable residents of the state move freely as the curfew has caused untold hardship to the masses. The Governor also stated that markets and borders will still be closed to help contain the deadly Corona Virus.
Remember that on Monday the state Government imposed curfew on some areas of the state. The affected places were Education bus stop to Agip Junction and Choba to Obiri Ikwerre flyover even to Rumughaolu. Many residents have commended this directive from the Governor as people can now have easy access to these affected areas. Residents going to various places have reported that the road is free.
The state Governor also commended the citizens of the state for always obeying the directives for the safety of everybody. The Governor also recalled the suspended local government chairman of Obio Akpor and his deputy. The state Governor on Monday suspended the local government chairman and his deputy for not carrying out the directive. They failed to close down the markets in their area. The Governor stated that this should be a warning to every local government area chairman who fails to carry out any directive given to him.
Rivers state government also used the opportunity to call on private companies in the state to make donations. This is to help the state government fight this deadly Corona Virus. The Governor also warned the people of Mgbushimiri in Obio Akpor local government area to desist from unlawful behaviors. He threatened to take actions next time they failed to obey government directive or act unlawfully.
