The Rivers State Government has given a directive for a total lock-down in the State. The Governor made this clear in a state broadcast on Wednesday 25 March 2020. He told the state the need to initiate a lock down to avoid the entrance of the virus into the state.
The Governor gave an example of a case that could have happened in the state. The lady wanted to sneak into the state through a flight coming from Abuja international airport.
The directive for the total lock down will take effect starting from Thursday 26 March 2020. There will be movement restriction. The State international Airport at Omagwa will be affected as nobody can travel out.
The directive will affect all land, sea and air movement from 6pm on Thursday.
The Governor of rivers state His Excellency barrister Nyesom Wike (CON,POS) told reporters in the live broadcast that this directive was for the good of Rivers people. It is to avoid the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
The state government is doing it’s best to avoid the virus from coming into the state so the directive.
